S2O Korea, an EDM Festival Made of Water

If you want to get soaked by the water and the sound both, pencil one name into your summer calendar. S2O Korea 2026 is turning on the hoses again. If the Soaking Show (흠뻑쇼) is water set to Korean pop, S2O is water set to electronic. Same summer, same soaking — but a completely different texture.

Where did the water festival come from

S2O is a water festival that crossed over from Thailand. Its roots are in Songkran, Thailand's New Year water-play holiday. It grew out of a tradition where people pour into the streets, throw water over one another, and wash off the year's heat and bad luck. S2O takes that whole feeling of watery release and moves it, all at once, onto a huge EDM stage. So you don't watch the stage from a safe distance — you walk right into the middle of the water and the sound.

Water cannons and sprinklers on stage fire toward the crowd nonstop, and the bass thumps against your body right through the spray. Taking water full-on under the midday sun while the low end hits twice as hard — that's a feeling you won't get in an air-conditioned indoor club. The moment getting wet stops being an accident and becomes the rule of the day, the way you play changes along with it. You catch the same jet of water as the stranger next to you and end up laughing together — a kind of release that only works in summer.

This is a festival you go into assuming you'll be soaked head to toe, so sorting out what to bring and what to leave behind ahead of time makes the whole day much lighter. Leave the pricey things at home as much as you can, and go in with just yourself, dressed in things you won't mind getting wet — that's the best way to play. The ground stays wet the whole time, so pick shoes that slip less and clothes in fabrics that don't get heavy with water, and your body will feel a lot easier.

Here's how to enjoy it

The lineup and session structure keep changing on the official announcements, so start by checking the timetable for the day you want to go, then map out your route. Daytime sun and an evening stage feel quite different. The daytime sessions have the wide-open airiness of water play, and once the sun goes down, the density of the lights and the stage ramps right up. With your phone sealed in a waterproof pouch it's easy to lose touch with your group, so pinning down a meeting spot and time in advance is a small handy tip.

My bag's already packed. Just a phone and one card in the waterproof pouch, and I put the spare clothes in a separate zip bag. If you're someone who isn't afraid of getting wet, these will be two days of meeting the midday heat of high summer head-on. Once you've finished getting ready to get soaked, the water and the bass will take care of the rest.
