In three lines
- BOYNEXTDOOR posted four videos across five days, 11 to 15 September. All of them at 10 p.m. sharp.
- According to their agency, the repackage 'HOME: DELUXE' arrives at 6 p.m. on 28 September. The title track is 'ANIMAL'.
- The most-watched of the four wasn't a concept film — it was a 12-minute 8-second report.

The Numbers First
| Posted | Video | Length |
|---|---|---|
| 11 Sept, 22:00 | Special Report Teaser | 34 sec |
| 12 Sept, 22:00 | Special Report: The Animals | 12 min 8 sec |
| 14 Sept, 22:00 | Concept Film HAZE ver. | 77 sec |
| 15 Sept, 22:00 | Concept Film OVERDRIVE ver. | 91 sec |
Four videos, all at exactly 10 p.m., skipping only 13 September. Only the last two carry the words 'Concept Film'.
The view counts favour the long one — 472,000 for the report, 220,000 for HAZE, 178,000 for OVERDRIVE. More people watched the twelve-minute documentary than the short concept films.
The studio album 'HOME' came out on 8 June. Nine songs, 24 minutes 45. That's 3 months 20 days to 28 September.
That's the last of the numbers. Now, the music.
The Low End Is 98.5% of the First Second
I measured the OVERDRIVE film embedded above. Ninety-one seconds.
There's no silence at the front. Sound starts at zero, and across the first second 20–150Hz accounts for 98.5% of the total energy. 500–3,000Hz is 0.0%. Pure sub-bass, no pitch and no voice. It passes −20dB at 0.30 seconds and −12dB at 0.65.
Mids appear for the first time at five seconds — 0.0% to 39.2%.
It climbs to −11dB at 20–21 seconds, then at 22 seconds the low end drops out whole (41.3% to 0.2%). A one-second hole. And at 23 seconds it comes back from 0.2% to 85.6%. From here the song is glued to the floor.
From 23 Seconds to 66, for Forty-Three Seconds
This is the most distinctive stretch in the film.
For 43 seconds the mids stay between 1.4% and 10% while the low end takes 60–94%. The densest part is 55 to 66 seconds — −7.3 to −8.2dB with the mids at only 1.5–2.4%.
For 43 seconds no voice and no melody comes up. Sub-bass and impacts, nothing else.
The stereo moves with it. At zero it's nearly mono at −22dB, opens wide to −3 to −5dB from 5 to 22 seconds, then closes again to −14 to −20dB for the fifty seconds from 23 to 72 — exactly the stretch the low end dominates — before reopening to −2 to −7dB from 73 to the end.
It Cuts Out at 84.9 Seconds and Returns at Full Scale at 86.025
The ending is the point of this film.
It starts shutting down at 84.90 seconds, mids first (53.7% to 0.2%). With only sub-bass left it descends from −12dB to −100dB across 1.1 seconds — a reverb tail losing about 4dB every 25 milliseconds.
And at 86.025 seconds, straight out of silence, it returns at −8.8dB. That's the peak of the whole film. The return is a broadband hit with only 1.0% low end, and 0.40 seconds later it hits again.
The HAZE film uses the same device. It cuts at 71.700 seconds, giving 0.30 seconds where the sample values are exactly zero — true digital silence — and returns at −10.7dB at 72.600. That's 37.5dB against the level just before the cut. The return is again a broadband hit with only 1.2% low end, and the low end fills in half a second late. It hits first and the floor follows.
Both films run the same grammar — kill it completely, hit broadband, bring the floor in afterwards. The tempo is 120.0BPM for OVERDRIVE and 63.2 for HAZE, and HAZE sits 4.9dB quieter. They live up to their names.
Until 28 September
The tracklist and credits come from the agency and there's no primary metadata yet. The album page hasn't been created on Bugs, so we'll confirm the song count and the production team after release.
What can be confirmed right now is the sound. And so far that sound hasn't let you hear a voice once — 43 seconds out of 91, and the same in the 77-second HAZE film.
If you're listening tonight, use earphones. The stereo closing for fifty seconds and opening again at 73 is half of what this film is.
