It Keeps 18.9 Seconds Muffled, Like a Voice Through a Receiver
&TEAM's 'Mark on Me' took first place on Music Bank yesterday. The song deliberately low-passes its first 18.9 seconds.

In three lines
- &TEAM's 'Mark on Me' took first place on KBS 'Music Bank' yesterday.
- It's the Korean second mini album, released on 8 September, with six tracks.
- The title track keeps its first 18.9 seconds under a low-pass filter and opens it at 0:22.5.

The Sales Figures Need Their Layers Separated
Several reports have run the numbers with different baselines mixed together. Sorted out, it looks like this.
| Basis | 'Mark on Me' | 'Back to Life' |
|---|---|---|
| Release day | 1,224,524 | 1,139,988 |
| Hanteo weekly | 1,357,357 (Sep 7~13, six days) | — |
| First week (7 days) | — | 1,222,022 |
The 1,357,357 figure is a weekly count, and since the album came out on 8 September it actually covers six days. That's a different layer from what people usually mean by first-week sales. To compare like with like, put 1,224,524 against 1,139,988.
The physical album came out in twelve versions including nine solo editions. That's a condition worth reading alongside the sales figures.
Six Songs
| Song | Length | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Mark on Me | 2:51 | Gripp Clouston, Benson Funn |
| Good Boy | 2:33 | Bang Si-hyuk, Johnny Goldstein, Supreme Boi, HISNOISE, Curtis |
| Love Jang | 2:41 | Soma Genda |
| Accelerate | 2:18 | Chiz Stevens |
| Empty | 2:56 | Dwillie |
| Night to howl! | 3:12 | Soma Genda |
'Love Jang' draws on the 1990s habit of writing your feelings in a notebook and handing it over. The Japanese edition arrives separately on 21 September.
That's the last of the numbers. Now, the music.
At 0:22.5 the Filter Opens
I measured the title track in 0.25-second windows.
From 0:00 to 0:03.4 there is complete digital silence (−240dB). The first sound arrives at 0:03.5 at −25.1dB.
Then comes the device of this song: 18.9 seconds, from 0:03.5 to 0:22.4. It averages −26.8dB, but 99% of that energy sits below 1,051Hz and 6000~11000Hz is 0.01%. The whole intro is low-passed like a voice heard through a receiver.
Then at 0:22.5 the filter opens. In 50-millisecond steps: −13.9dB at 0:22.45, −8.5dB at 0:22.50, −5.0dB at 0:22.70. 8.9dB in a quarter of a second — and in that same quarter second the 20~150Hz share goes from 0.0% to 64.5% while the 99% rolloff widens from 1.05kHz to 8.6kHz.
The drop isn't the sound getting louder. It's the bandwidth opening.
It Cuts Twice More
At 0:56.5 a single 0.25-second window is severed entirely at −46.0dB. Then at 0:57.0 a lone sub-bass hit arrives with 20~150Hz taking 99.1% of the energy.
At 1:55.0 it stops dead again at −34.5dB, returning at 1:55.5 at −10.2dB with the low end at 96.8%.
Between them, the body from 0:57 to 1:55 averages −6.8dB with 20~150Hz taking 75.3% — a sub-heavy mix. Across 0:58~2:36, 86.5% of windows stay inside a 6dB band between −10 and −4dB, and the sample peak reads +3.23dB, over full scale.
So the body barely moves. All the dynamics are made by opening the bandwidth and by stopping.
There's a 17-Second Tail at the End
The fade starts at 2:44 and falls to −86.6dB by 2:53 — the point that lines up with the 2:51 track length.
But the video runs 3:08. From 2:53.5 to 3:08 there is a video-only tail of sub rumble, with 20~150Hz at 85.9%. That's where the 17-second difference comes from.
Just the First 25 Seconds, on Earphones
The design of this song is all in the first 25 seconds: kept shut for 18.9 seconds, opened at 0:22.5. On laptop speakers you can barely tell the shut state from the open one, because the point is 6000~11000Hz moving off 0.01% — and those speakers can't produce that band.
Try just the first 25 seconds on earphones. After that, the same trick runs twice more.
&TEAM are nine members — K, FUMA, NICHOLAS, EJ, YUMA, JO, HARUA, TAKI and MAKI — who debuted in Japan on 7 December 2022 under HYBE LABELS.
