6pm, October 19
JYP Entertainment announced NMIXX's comeback schedule this morning. Sixth mini album 'Strange Muse', 6pm on October 19, six tracks.
The talking point is the unit songs. NMIXX have not released one since debuting in 2022. The members took part in the writing and composing again this time. They are six: Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo and Kyujin.
Several outlets attached the phrase "five months". I counted it. The previous album 'Heavy Serenade' landed on May 11, 2026 and this one lands on October 19, which makes it five months and eight days. There was a soundtrack appearance on 'K-POPS!' on May 29 in between, but that isn't an album of their own.
And two days ago, on September 19, they took three awards at the 2026 The Fact Music Awards in Busan. Of the four grand prizes, Sound of the Year went to NMIXX.
That's the last of the numbers. Now, the music.
How the Last Song Ended
The new record isn't out, so I measured the previous title track 'Heavy Serenade' in 0.25-second windows. Three minutes thirty-one.
The start is unusual. At 0:07.90 it reads −77.1dB — effectively silence. Then −22.5dB at 0:07.95 and −17.9dB at 0:08.00. 59dB in a tenth of a second. In that moment 20~150Hz takes 52.8%.
The next five seconds show the song's character. From 0:08 to 0:12.9 the low-end share swings 52.8% → 35.0% → 68.7% → 9.0% → 41.2% → 26.3% → 47.4% → 13.0% → 53.8% → 76.8%. The floor is there and gone at intervals of 0.05 to 0.7 seconds. The bass isn't laid down — it flickers.
Across the whole track the low-end median is 12.1%, above 30% for 4.7% of the runtime. Instead 6000~11000Hz sits at 17.3% — a bright mix. The level median is −6.8dB with a 5th-to-95th percentile spread of 23.5dB, which leaves a fair amount of dynamics for an idol title track.
The flattest stretch runs ten seconds from 2:30.25, moving within just 1.92dB.
The Ending Keeps Only the Mids
The last six seconds are the most striking part.
At 3:25.00 the mids (500~3000Hz) read 86.6% with the low end at 0.8%. At 3:27.05, mids 87.9% and low end 0.1%. At 3:28.90, mids 94.1% and low end 0.3%.
The floor is swept out entirely and it closes on mids alone. Then 1.8 seconds of nothing from 3:29.25, and it's over.
A song that opened by slamming 59dB of floor in at 0:08 erases that same floor down to 0.1% at the end.
I also measured where the voice sits. Across 0:20~1:00 there are 45 sustained tones holding pitch for 0.2 seconds or longer, at a median of 401Hz.
In November, Incheon
An encore concert runs November 27~29 at Inspire Arena in Incheon.
There are nearly four weeks until the comeback, so in the meantime try just the last six seconds of 'Heavy Serenade'. On earphones, 3:25 to 3:31. You can hear the floor being erased.
