Here are eight of the new songs released between September 22 and 28 that our editors went back and played again. The order isn't a ranking. We've noted one spot to listen for in each song, so start playing from there. All times refer to the music videos.

BOYNEXTDOOR 'ANIMAL'

The title track of the repackage of their first full-length album, out September 28 at 6 p.m. KST. According to their agency, it's the first time BOYNEXTDOOR have tried their hand at electro-funk. Around 1:55 and again around 2:00, the sound drops out twice, for a second each time. It already has you wondering what moves they'll fill those gaps with on stage. Apple Music

NiziU 'Sour Grapes'

The title track of their first Korean mini album, a fresh take on Aesop's fable 'The Fox and the Grapes'. This isn't a song that builds harder the further it goes. Its most intense stretch comes around 0:36, near the front of the song. The first 40 seconds alone will tell you what kind of song it is. Apple Music

ALLDAY PROJECT 'DO IT LIKE THIS'

The music video came out first, on September 24, and on the 28th the song landed on their second EP, 'CRASH'. If 'CRASH' from the same EP (today's NONOL Pick) empties out and then fills back up, this one is packed from the very start. The low end comes in within three seconds and doesn't break once for 2 minutes 16 seconds. Apple Music

YESUNG 'Winds of Time'

YESUNG shared this song early, on September 28: it's the first to come from 'Where We Are' (out October 6), the second full-length album marking 10 years as a solo artist. It's alternative pop built on acoustic instruments, and YESUNG took part in writing the lyrics. Of its 4 minutes 21 seconds, the biggest swell comes around 3:20. It takes its time and builds slowly, so it's best heard all the way to the end. Apple Music

ONEUS 'Say Yes!'

The title track of their 12th EP, 'FIRST LIGHT : 井', released September 23. It holds back the low end until 0:44, drops it all in at once, and then, twenty seconds later around 1:04, bursts open at its loudest. It's a song that repays the wait. Apple Music

KickFlip 'Puzzle Piece'

KickFlip released the music video early, at midnight on September 28, for one of the two title tracks from 'KICK OFF THE WALL Pt. 1', due out in October. The song itself arrives with the album on October 6 at 6 p.m. KST. Their agency describes it as dreamy sounds with rough pop punk added on top, and it hits hardest around 2:06.

imzoo 'Take Me Tokyo'

This is from indie singer-songwriter imzoo's single 'Loop Vol.3'. It came out overseas first on September 25, then in Korea on the 26th. The lyrics mix Korean and English, and the single includes an English version too. The low end doesn't come in until 0:29; until then, the song drifts along lightly with no floor beneath it. Apple Music

Shin Ye-young 'As If We Have Returned to Our Days'

A breakup ballad released September 28 at 6 p.m. KST. It's about two people who have drifted apart: if they ever happen to meet again, the singer will try to smile the way they did in those happy days. Composer Cha Min-ho worked on the song. It climbs highest around 2:50. Apple Music
