At 6 p.m. on October 12, PLAVE returns with its fifth mini album, 'HYPERDRIVE'. The physical album follows the next day. PLAVE is a five-member virtual boy group, YEJUN, NOAH, BAMBY, EUNHO and HAMIN, that debuted on March 12, 2023. Each member is a real person behind the screen, and motion capture carries that person's voice and movement onto the on-screen character in real time. The agency, VLAST, says it uses a production pipeline in which everything, from music videos to weekly live streams to concerts, starts from real-time motion capture. We picked seven title tracks, from the debut song to this spring's fourth mini album, and noted a scene to watch first in each. Scene timestamps refer to the music videos on PLAVE's official channel.

2023 'Wait for you'

The title track of the debut single 'ASTERUM'. According to the album notes, the members took part in every part of it, from choreography to writing and composing the songs, and the title track carries the feeling of always waiting in the same place. The word "Hello" is hidden all over the music video: on a card at 0:42, in glowing handwriting in a library at 0:58 and on a wristwatch screen at 1:14. From 3:04, the five, dressed in white, dance together for the first time on a mirror-like water surface under the Milky Way. Apple Music

2023 'The 6th Summer'

The title track of the first mini album. The album notes explain that each member's hardships are drawn as different kinds of rain. The music video is a school story in 2D animation. At 2:34, the five laugh together in summer school uniforms, and at 2:40 a sign for Ttukseom station on Seoul Subway Line 2 is drawn in. From 3:00, it switches to a band jam in a sunlit field, with guitar, drums, bass and keys split among them. The lead image is the 2:34 scene. Apple Music

2024 'WAY 4 LUV'

The title track of the second mini album 'ASTERUM : 134-1', where, according to the album notes, the members wrote, composed and choreographed all six songs themselves. It's a band-sound song built around a repeating guitar riff. With this song, PLAVE took first place on MBC's 'Show! Music Core' that March, and outlets including YTN reported it was the first time a virtual idol had won on a terrestrial TV music show. At 3:06, the five ride an open car across a glowing blue night sea. Apple Music

2025 'Dash'

The title track of the third mini album 'Caligo Pt.1'. The album notes say that if the 'ASTERUM' trilogy was the prologue, this album opens a new chapter. A fragile opening turns into explosive rock in the chorus. At 2:46 in the music video, a fight scene turns black and white, and only two members' purple lightning and red energy stay in color as they collide. Apple Music

2025 'かくれんぼ (Hide and Seek)'

The title track of the first Japanese single. According to the album notes, YEJUN, NOAH and EUNHO composed it, and BAMBY and HAMIN directed the choreography. A Korean version, '숨바꼭질', followed on September 15. The best scene for newcomers starts at 0:12: YEJUN holding a camera, NOAH at a window overlooking the sea, BAMBY in front of a Ferris wheel, EUNHO sitting in the grass, and HAMIN appear one after another with handwritten name captions. It's a good way to learn faces and names. Apple Music

2025 'BBUU!'

The title track of the second single album 'PLBBUU', made with Sanrio Characters. "BBUU" is a sound meant to evoke lips puckered for a kiss, and it's also a key move in the choreography. The music video opens at 0:06 with a child opening a box holding five PLAVE dolls, and at 1:10 Kuromi, My Melody, Pochacco, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin appear together on the grass. Apple Music

2026 'Born Savage'

The title track of the fourth mini album 'Caligo Pt.2', released this April. It's a rock track centered on rough guitars; the album notes describe it this way: if 'Dash' was a sprint through the dark, this is the roar of a beast that wakes at the end of it. The album's pre-release song, '흥흥흥 (feat. SOLE)', was the first time a female vocalist joined PLAVE's music. The music video opens at 0:03 on a 'Hello, Asterum!' neon sign over a city street, the same phrase as the name of the group's first fan concert in 2024. At 4:15, the five stand small beside a giant 'P' monument on a scorched plain. Apple Music

'HYPERDRIVE', October 12

The fifth mini album has a racing concept. The concept film released September 18 shows a race car glowing blue, then pink, and its final screen gives the digital release as 6 p.m. on October 12 and the album release as October 13. In the members' individual clips, the five wear racing jackets and racing suits. The title track has been reported as 'Star Trace', which the group first performed in the encore of its first world tour, 'KEEP IT MANIC', at Incheon Munhak Stadium on September 12–13. The tour continues in Bangkok on the 10th, Singapore on the 17th and Taipei on the 23rd–24th. At the same day and hour, NCT WISH and Xdinary Heroes also release new albums.
