An open-air stadium lets the sound spread wide, and it also lets you take the end-of-summer wind straight on. By late August the day's heat has broken once by evening, which makes outdoor shows at this point in the season unusually bearable.

Why god closes both nights

The lineup is broad: god, Epik High, Highlight, ONEW, Zion.T, GRAY, BOL4, Paul Kim, sunwoojunga, SoRan and B1A4.

Generations are mixed evenly through it, and that's the character of this bill. Acts who debuted in the late 1990s share the same stage with the names most active right now. With god headlining and closing on both days, the two nights end the same way — you can mostly guess what the last song of the festival will be, and it's the agreeable kind of guess.

sunwoojunga, who put out a new song 'Peacock' a few days ago, is on the lineup too. Hearing a track on streaming first and then meeting it outdoors a few weeks later is an order of events only a festival makes possible.

What 'aiming for carbon neutral' means

This festival introduces itself a little differently: it wants to put music, the environment and sustainability in the same place. It's said to be the first music festival in Korea to declare a carbon-neutral aim.

Festivals are, in fact, events that produce a lot of waste. Disposable cups, packaging, travel. That a festival has appeared saying up front it will cut that down is a signal in itself. How much actually gets cut we'll only know once it's over, but an event that has set itself a standard and one that hasn't are bound to differ from the preparation stage on.

Before you go

It's an open-air stadium, so shade isn't plentiful. Even in late August the daytime hours are hot. Bring a hat, water, and a spare pair of socks. If the event runs on reusable cups, your own tumbler may make things easier.

Since the lineup mixes generations, rather than cherry-picking only the songs you know, I'd suggest deliberately catching one name you don't. What lasts longest from a festival is usually the set you weren't expecting.
