On a First Album as Six Topping the Charts in Two Countries

The first album as six

ENHYPEN has worked as a six-piece since March this year, when main vocalist Heeseung left the group to move into solo work. 'THE SIN : BLISS' is the first album released after that reshaping.

A first album after a lineup change is tested on more than its numbers. How the sound has shifted, how the parts were redistributed, whether the group's impression holds — all get judged together.

What came out of that test was number one in both the United States and Japan.

The numbers in America

It debuted at number one on the September 5 Billboard 200 — ENHYPEN's first.

Luminate counted 98,000 album-equivalent units in the United States in the first week, of which 92,000 were album sales and 6,000 were streaming equivalent.

Sales are almost the whole of it. Billboard credited more than thirty CD and vinyl variants carrying collectible inserts — photocards, stickers, posters — with driving that total. That this structure is what produces K-pop chart placements in America has been pointed out repeatedly, and these figures sit inside it.

The numbers in Japan

On Oricon's September 7 weekly combined album ranking it took first place with 193,282 points. That chart totals CD sales, digital downloads and streaming counts.

Oricon said, "The number of ENHYPEN works to reach number one on the weekly combined album ranking is eleven, which places them third all-time among all artists to top this chart."

Where the American chart runs on sales, this Japanese chart adds streaming into the count. That two different methods of counting produced the same result is the part of this worth noting.

A seventh top-ten

This is ENHYPEN's seventh Billboard 200 top-ten entry, all of them since 2022. Their previous best was number two, reached twice.

Two number twos and then a number one. The shape of climbing one step at a time.

That the last step got filled after they became six is where this album sits. The number of people fell and the ranking rose. Whether there is any causation between those two is unknowable, but the fact that the timing overlaps remains.
