A Tenth Anniversary Hung in a Gallery for One Week
Kwon Jin-ah's 'ARCHIVE 919' is open in Mapo, Seoul. 919 is the debut date.

There is an exhibition whose title is three digits. 'ARCHIVE 919'. 919 is 19 September, the day Kwon Jin-ah debuted in 2016 with the album 'One Strange Night'. This year that day comes around for the tenth time.
The exhibition opened on Saturday 12 September and runs to 20 September, in Sangsu-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul: Tilla Ground.
What's Hanging There
There are unreleased demos, there is a tenth-anniversary commentary, and there is an animatic music film being shown for the first time.
Other things are attached to the run. On 13 September Kwon Jin-ah worked a shift as a barista at Bean Brothers Coffee House Seoul, pulling coffee in person. From 14 to 18 September there are listening sessions built on a playlist the singer curated, and on Saturday 19 September — the tenth anniversary itself — there's a signing.
The coffee and the exhibition aren't separate ventures. The basement floor of Tilla Ground is an exhibition and art space run by Bean Brothers' creative team. Two doors out of the same root.
There are many ways to sum up ten years, and this person rented a gallery instead of a concert hall. Standing and looking instead of sitting and listening; nine days held open instead of one night finished. And since demos and commentary are things from before completion, putting them out on a tenth anniversary means what's on offer is the process, not the result.
The First Nine Seconds of 'MONSTER'
'MONSTER', embedded above, is from the EP [SAVE ME], released on 15 July. Kwon Jin-ah wrote the words and music; Hwang Hyun-jo arranged it. Tempo around 92BPM.
The first nine seconds aren't the song yet. Thin fragments with less than 3% of their energy in the low end sit scattered, with near-silence in between. Then from 0:07.7 a single note near 434Hz swells without breaking.
That sound isn't in the centre. It's spread completely to the sides. On earphones it feels like it's arriving from beside both ears.
At 0:09.2 the low end drives in and the band arrives. The low-end share goes from 1% to 20%, the volume from −20dB to −11dB in one step. And then the sound gathers, in the opposite direction, into the middle. That contrast — spread, then squeezed — is the whole of the opening.
What's good about this song is that it moves position instead of raising volume. It doesn't push with level; it widens and then gathers.
1:31 and 2:38
The song empties out twice.
At 1:31.2 the bass and kick drop out together. For a second and a half the low end falls below 1%, and 6–16kHz climbs to 40% in its place, momentarily to 82%. What leaves from below is filled from above. At 1:32.9 the low end returns.
The bigger hole is at 2:38.4. After falling from −7dB to −20dB, it hits once each at 2:38.7 and 2:39.4, and after each it drops to −35dB. Stop-and-go, twice. At 2:40.0 the band returns head-on.
From 3:36.5 the low end disappears and only the highs remain until the last sound ends at 3:39.2. After that there is complete digital silence to 3:47. The song ends eight seconds early and only the picture is left.
The music video has the actual players in it. The Starring credits read Bass Hwang Hyun-jo, Guitar Kitak, Drum Park Seong-chan. The arranger appears on camera in person, playing bass.
What's Next
From 6 to 8 November, '2026 KWON JIN AH LIVE TOUR "SAVE ME" IN SEOUL' plays Myunghwa Live Hall in Seoul. Fan-club presale opens at 8 p.m. on 14 September, general sale at 8 p.m. on 16 September.
The year-end brand show 'THIS WINTER' runs 12–13 December at EXCO Auditorium in Daegu and 25–26 December at KBS Busan Hall. The agency says the setlist will differ from the Seoul shows.
The exhibition closes on 20 September. If you're thinking of stopping by before then, listen to the first nine seconds of this song on earphones first. Knowing those nine seconds — spread wide, then gathered to the centre — you hear a little more clearly where the demos on the walls stopped.
MONSTER.
