Five Songs Before Saying a Word
John Park's solo concert [BREAK!] ran for three nights last weekend. The title was about breaking a self-built frame.

My bag's already packed. Last weekend it was Hannam-dong.

「2026 John Park Concert [BREAK!]」 ran three times at Blue Square's Woori WON Banking Hall — Friday 11 September at 8 p.m., Saturday the 12th at 5 p.m., Sunday the 13th at 4 p.m. Running time was listed at 100 minutes; every seat was 143,000 won. According to the agency, all three nights sold out.
It Opened With Music
There was no greeting. John Park sang 'BLUFF', then 'Understand', 'DND', '제자리' and '그만' — five songs straight — before saying anything.
The singer explained the title in person: it was set as [BREAK] "to smash the fixed idea I'd built myself, that I should only make quiet music."
There was a new song too, with the same name as the show: 'BREAK!'. It was written for the concert with no plan to release it. It also played as the exit music. A song that isn't coming out ended up being both the first and last impression of the night.
Partway through, John Park ran aespa's 'Whiplash' and RESCENE's 'Love Attack' together in a full-band arrangement.
Look at Who Led the Band
Six players were on stage: Hong So-jin on production and keys, Hong Jun-ho on guitar, Choi In-sung on bass, Park Seong-chan on drums, Song Seong-gyeong on keys, Han Min-a on Pro Tools.
That first name turns up in July as well. The arrangement credit on 'Summer Returns', embedded above, reads John Park and Hong So-jin. The person who arranged the record led the band for this show. It wasn't a session crew assembled in a hurry.
'Summer Returns' Keeps Emptying Out in the First Verse
The single came out on 23 July. Two minutes 43, 93.8BPM.
The opening is unusual. There's only 0.55 seconds of digital silence, and sound arrives at 0:00.60. By 0:00.90 the low end is already 56% of the total. It isn't an intro that builds; everything is switched on the moment the door opens.
Then the first verse (0:13–0:31) drops out every two bars. −30.5dB at 0:15.12, −30.8dB at 0:20.25, −32.2dB at 0:25.35. The gaps are 5.13 and 5.10 seconds — exactly eight beats at 93.8BPM (5.12 seconds). Since the level just before is −5 to −8dB, 22–27dB vanishes each time. Shallower holes open every 1.2–1.4 seconds in between.
The biggest one is at 1:44. From −8.7dB it sinks to a floor of −30.4dB at 1:47.05, and across that stretch the low-end share sits at 1% for 2.6 seconds. The stereo width hits its widest point of the whole song here at −1.4dB (the first verse was −19 to −20dB), meaning what's left when the level goes is reverb spread to both edges.
The return takes 0.2 seconds: −24.3dB at 1:47.45 to −13.0dB at 1:47.65. Eleven decibels come back.
What's good about this song is that every one of those gaps sits exactly on the grid. They weren't pulled out by feel — they were counted out, eight beats at a time.
Next Time You Listen
Put on earphones and play 1:44 to 1:48 twice. The stereo opening to its widest and folding back to centre in 0.2 seconds is all inside those four seconds.
'BREAK!', the song played at the show, has no release planned. Only the people in that hall for three nights have heard it.
