Chart songs live at night: 'night' 87 times in the lyrics of 100 songs, 'evening' zero
We counted the times of day in the lyrics of the 100 songs on the Bugs weekly chart: night came up 87 times in 37 songs, morning 10 times and dawn 4 times. Evening never appeared once.

Most of the songs on the chart linger in the night. We took the 100 songs on the Bugs weekly chart for the last week of September (September 28 to October 4) and counted the words for times of day in the lyrics posted on Bugs. For 밤 (night), we included the words it's joined to, such as 한밤 (the dead of night), 밤새 (all night long) and 겨울밤 (winter night), and counted the English night, tonight and midnight as well. Night came up 87 times in 37 songs. Morning, counting the English morning too, appeared 10 times in five songs, 새벽 (dawn) 4 times in three songs, and 낮 (daytime) twice in one song. 저녁 (evening) never came up once, and for the time when the sun goes down there was 노을 (sunset glow), 4 times in three songs. We picked eight night songs and five that sing about other times of day.

Songs that sing the night
TAEYEON 'Bansanka'
It sings night eight times, the most of the 100 songs. '수십 번의 긴 밤' ('dozens of long nights') swells to '수백 번' ('hundreds of times'), '수천 번' ('thousands of times') and '수만 번' ('tens of thousands of times'). In our October 11 list, we noted that the key goes up near the end at the very moment '수천 번' becomes '수만 번'. It's the 'J-POP REMAKE Vol.1' single released on June 29. Apple Music
DAY6 'Love me or Leave me'
'Baby love me or leave me tonight'. The English tonight comes up six times. The song is on 'The Book of Us : The Demon' from May 2020. The video here is the official audio. Apple Music
Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars 'Die With A Smile'
'So I'ma love you every night / Like it's the last night'. It's a song about loving every night as if it were the last one, and night comes up six times. It came out in August 2024. Apple Music
ROSÉ & Bruno Mars 'APT.'
'Sleep tomorrow but tonight go crazy'. That line, about saving sleep for tomorrow and having fun tonight, together with 'party all night', makes four times. It came out in October 2024. Apple Music
ALLDAY PROJECT 'ONE MORE TIME'
'Wanna get lost in the ni-ni-night'. Night gets chopped up as if in a stammer. With 'Something in the air tonight', it comes to four times. It's a single from November 2025. The video here is the official audio. Apple Music
ITZY 'THAT'S A NO NO'
'밤새워 밤새워 춤을 춰' ('stay up all night, all night, and dance'). The Korean 밤 (night) comes up four times. It's on the mini album 'IT'z ME' from March 2020, and the video here is the official audio. Apple Music
JANNABI 'For Lovers Who Hesitate'
'그러다 밤이 찾아오면' ('and then, when night comes') and '추억할 그 밤 위에 갈피를 꽂고 선' ('slipping a bookmark into that night to remember'). It's a line that tucks a bookmark into a night. The song is from the second full album 'Legend' (March 2019). Apple Music
fromis_9 'Vitamin ME'
'밤이 없는 햇빛' ('sunlight with no night'). Night does appear, but in a line that sings of a day with no night. It's on 'Glow ME', released on July 21. Apple Music
Times other than night
I.O.I 'Suddenly'
This is the song with the most morning. 'Till the morning' is followed by '그렇게 아침이 밝아오네' ('and so the morning breaks'), and earlier come '빨간 노을빛처럼' ('like the red light of the sunset glow') and 'In the midnight'. From sunset glow through the middle of the night to morning, a whole day fits into one song. Apple Music
NewJeans 'Ditto'
'아침은 너무 멀어' ('morning is too far away'). Morning comes up three times, but each time it's a morning that hasn't come yet. The line in this song where autumn appears is in our October 20 list. Apple Music
NewJeans 'Hype Boy'
'네 생각에 또 새벽 세 시' ('thinking of you, it's three at dawn again'). A line where dawn even comes with the hour. The song is from the debut EP of August 2022. Apple Music
KiiiKiii 'Pop Off Pop Off'
'낮잠에 든 채' ('drifting off in a daytime nap') and '한낮 도심 위 Jumping' ('Jumping over the city at midday'). Of the 100 songs, this is the only one where daytime appears. Even so, it reaches night in the end with '철 안 들어 밤까지' ('never growing up, right into the night'). Apple Music
BIGBANG 'BiiiG'
'오늘 붉은 노을' ('a red sunset glow today') and '나침반은 푸른 노을' ('my compass is a blue sunset glow'). Instead of evening, sunset glow comes up twice. The scene where the sunset glow changes color is in our October 14 Hidden Details. Apple Music

Where the fall lands, a 'B' and a 'U' crack open: LEE HAN GYUL's 'BUNZI'
In the opening scene LEE HAN GYUL tips backward and falls, and the asphalt at the landing spot is cracked into the first two letters of the title. At 2:12, as a warehouse explodes, the backing goes empty for 0.9 seconds instead of an explosion sound, and after the song ends, 6 seconds that aren't in the audio remain.
