Getting into TWS before 'TO US': from 'plot twist' to 'You, You', the titles the lyrics sing and the ones they don't

TWS is a six-member group, SHINYU, DOHOON, YOUNGJAE, HANJIN, JIHOON and KYUNGMIN, who debuted in January 2024. Before their second single 'TO US' arrives on November 2, we picked six title tracks to hear first, in order from the debut song. When we counted each song's title in its Bugs lyrics, one sings the title fifteen times and another never sings it at all. And where the Korean title and the English title differ, the lyrics sometimes sing the English one. Times follow the official music videos.

1. 'plot twist' (첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아, 2024)

The title track of the debut mini album 'Sparkling Blue'. Its Korean title, '첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아' ("a first meeting never goes to plan"), doesn't appear in the lyrics as a sentence. Instead, '첫 만남은 너무 어려워' ("first meetings are so hard") comes up five times and '계획대로 되는 게 없어서' ("because nothing goes to plan") twice, splitting the title across two lines. The English title on Apple Music, 'plot twist', isn't in the lyrics either. At 1:34 in the music video, the moment the six members dancing on a rooftop under a rainbow stretch their arms and jump, the voices drop out and only the backing track remains. Apple Music

2. 'If I'm S, Can You Be My N?' (내가 S면 넌 나의 N이 되어줘, 2024)

The title track of the second mini album 'SUMMER BEAT!' works the other way: its first line is the title. The title sentence comes up five times. In the music video, the song starts at 0:23.7, and for more than six seconds the voices carry on without drums or bass. That first line is the title sentence. Meanwhile, on the screen, the six members leap into the air on a rooftop by the sea. Apple Music

3. 'Last Festival' (마지막 축제, 2024)

The title track of the first single 'Last Bell'. It sings its title the most of the six, fifteen times, including '우리 마지막 축제' ("our last festival"). At 2:16 in the music video, a festival is in full swing on an auditorium stage under a banner reading 'A WINTER NIGHT'S DREAM'. When the voices drop out at 2:20.8 and only the backing track plays for a little over seven seconds, the screen moves to the auditorium after the festival is over. Balloons roll across the floor and the banner has fallen. Apple Music

4. 'Countdown!' (마음 따라 뛰는 건 멋지지 않아?, 2025)

The title track of the third mini album 'TRY WITH US'. The Korean title sentence, '마음 따라 뛰는 건 멋지지 않아?' ("isn't it cool to run where your heart leads?"), never appears in the lyrics. Instead, the song sings its Apple Music English title, 'Countdown!', six times, as in '이제 One, Two, Three, Countdown!'. At 0:38 in the music video, the Korean title appears in handwriting on a black screen. Right after, from 0:40, the voices drop out for seven seconds while the six dance across a wide open lot at sunset. The photo at the top of this page is that scene. Apple Music

5. 'OVERDRIVE' (2025)

The title track of the fourth mini album 'play hard'. Overdrive is the name of an effect that pushes a guitar amp hard to roughen and distort the sound. The song sings its title thirteen times. While the voices drop out for a little over three seconds from 0:17 in the music video, a hand plugging a jack into an amp appears in close-up at 0:18. When the backing track plays with no voices for nearly ten seconds from 2:29, a night festival unfolds under a neon sign reading 'ROCK FESTIVAL'. Apple Music

6. 'You, You' (널 따라가, 2026)

The title track of the fifth mini album 'NO TRAGEDY'. The Korean title, '널 따라가' ("I follow you"), never appears in the lyrics; only the 'You, You' in the parentheses is sung, six times, as 'You, You remind me'. The English title on Apple Music is 'You, You' as well. The music video plays only the backing track for more than 13 seconds at the start, and in that time two swans drawn in light turn into constellations. The voices come in only at 0:15. Apple Music

In August, TWS also released 'SODA SODA', a single sung in Japanese. The six songs run from 2 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes 11 seconds, so listening to every song in this guide takes less than 17 minutes. TWS releases the second single 'TO US' at 6 p.m. on November 2. It has three songs: the title track 'Call My Name' (내 이름을 불러줘), plus 'WE UP' and 'heavy' (Apple Music). How many times the new title track sings its own title, we'll only know when we hear it that day.
