"You hardly ever come to a playground": songs sucozy sang among the kids at 30

sucozy, a singer-songwriter who makes indie and electronic pop, sang four songs with a single keyboard at Gangjae Children's Park in Juyeop-dong, Ilsan. It was an afternoon with kids climbing up and down the brightly colored play equipment. After the first song, sucozy said, "Honestly, once you're grown up you hardly ever come to a playground. Filming here feels fresh, and there are lots of kids behind me too." Then, laughing: "My songs should be a bit livelier."

This song was still unreleased at the time of filming. Last winter, the morning after a heavy overnight snow, sucozy watched snow blowing off the trees, suddenly felt how fleeting things are, and wrote it. English lyrics are murmured low over a simple, repeating sound, and from 1:45, for 16 seconds, the low end drops out and the sound goes half empty. The floor returns at 2:02. 5:18 '혼잣말' ('Comparison')

This one was unreleased then too. It came from not being satisfied with oneself, and from wondering whether the person you hoped to be is who you are now. After the song, sucozy said the wind was making their hands cold, and explained that it captured thoughts from turning 30 this year. A professor once said, "Just close your eyes and keep at it until 30, and something might come of it," and at that age the words came back. Still, these days the bigger feeling is "it's enough if I'm having fun," so the aim is to enjoy the process. The song was released as a single in September 2024. Apple Music

9:54 '나와는 참 다른' ('Difference')

A single from May 2022. sucozy used to push away people who were different, then came to feel there's a lot to learn from them and that differences can even complete each other, and wrote down things to say to people with a different temperament. Apple Music

14:50 '시시' ('SISI')

sucozy introduced the closer as "my favorite of my own songs". It came out in July 2021. It's about someone so cool that you become plain next to them. 'Shabby' sounded too pitiful, so sucozy went lighter with '시시', meaning dull or plain. The lyrics are all about praising the other person's coolness. Apple Music
