A live hall rather than an arena — small for someone with twelve Grammys. Watching a rock band at this scale, the sound doesn't read as loud so much as close. What leaves the amp arrives before it hits a wall.

The phone-free condition

What defines this show is that you can't film it. Jack White has kept phones out of his concerts since 2018.

Usually you put your phone into a locking pouch on the way in. You keep the pouch yourself, and it can be opened in a designated area if you need to make a call. It isn't confiscation; it's restricted to inside the room.

What changes when you can't film

A show you can't record changes how you watch. A good moment arrives and your hand doesn't go to your pocket.

Not having a record can feel like a loss. Then again, a concert was originally a form that only existed on that day in that room. Being able to film it is a recent development.

There's a practical benefit too: nobody's screen in front of you blocks the view. In standing areas that difference is considerable.

Something changes on the players' side as well. A fumbled passage won't be clipped out and circulated, which makes improvising easier. At a show that's being filmed, the assumption that every moment could survive is in the room — and that assumption makes choices on stage a little more conservative.

A headline show, four years on

He played Pentaport in 2024, so coming to Korea at all is a two-year gap. But a festival has a fixed slot and a short setlist.

A headline show is different. Songs can stretch, and a set can turn on impulse. This performer is known for changing night to night, so seeing a headline show means seeing that variability whole.

Before you go

Booking opened back in May. Getting a ticket now means watching for returns.

Since phones are locked, sort out anything you need to handle before you go in — you won't be able to check during the show. And wearing a watch helps. You'll have no other way to see the time.

Bear in mind it's a Monday. Even if you plan to leave early for the next day, an encore makes that hard. Better to go prepared to stay to the end.
