It starts with a plant

'Duhaesaripul' is a real botanical category. It names a biennial: a plant that comes up from seed, flowers the following year, and dies. Not an annual, not a perennial. A life that runs exactly two years.

Put that word in a title and the span is settled in advance. This isn't a feeling with an unknown running time, it's a feeling that knows when it ends. As the title of a love song, that's a cruel kind of accuracy.

The middle two blur at the edges

'Oegyesarang' pulls in everything outside the Earth. Oegye is the world beyond our own, sarang is love, and the farthest place there is has been set right in front of love. You can call someone that when, however close they get, you'll never fully know them.

'Honmong' is a word for a state where the mind goes hazy. Not asleep, not awake, somewhere in the middle. If the song before it was far away in space, this one has gone dim in consciousness.

Line the two up and a direction appears. Away, outward, and then blurred, inward.

The last one has already passed

'Bitbaraen Baramcheoreom', like a faded wind. Wind has no color to begin with, and 'faded' has been attached to it anyway. Something with no color is being told it lost its color.

The combination doesn't add up, yet the sensation arrives exactly. It's pointing at something that has thinned out with age.
