Four stages of love
The opener, 'That Girl and I', renders the shining moment of falling in love. It is the starting point.
The second, 'Yellow', holds the hope of living in the world while healing wounds with love — the place where love stops being a feeling and becomes a tool.
The last, 'Let's Go', holds the wish to comfort the person you love and keep that love to the end.
It starts at the moment of falling, passes through healing, and ends with a promise to keep it. The four songs each stand at a different stage of love.
Someone else's song in third place
Only the third song is not an original. It is Norah Jones's 'Don't Know Why', introduced as a song by a musician YUNINI loves.
Putting someone else's song between your own is a way of declaring taste. Sometimes what a person listens to is more accurate than what they make.
'Don't Know Why' is a title that says it does not know the reason. Between three songs about falling, healing and keeping, one song sits saying it does not know why.
Someone who started with two prizes
YUNINI debuted by winning the gold prize and the lyrics prize at the 26th Yoo Jae-ha Music Competition with the song 'Here, Here, Here'.
Winning the lyrics prize as well means the words were judged separately. There is one more prize, received not because the song was good but because the writing was.
Since the first single '9%' in the winter of 2017, YUNINI has kept singing personal stories, based in pop and moving through rock, folk and R&B.
Where this was filmed
Mangol Neighborhood Park in Yongin. It was an afternoon with the sunlight tilting, the crew wrote — the long stretched shadows seemed to announce the end of that day.
