'Autumn' just twice on the October chart: spring, summer, autumn and winter in the lyrics of 100 songs

We counted the seasons in the lyrics of the 100 songs on the Bugs weekly chart: summer 16 times, spring 13, winter 7 and autumn just 2. One song sings all four seasons, and one turns them upside down.

'Autumn' just twice on the October chart: spring, summer, autumn and winter in the lyrics of 100 songs

It's October and autumn is in full swing, yet autumn is hard to find in the songs on the chart. We took the 100 songs on the Bugs weekly chart for the last week of September (September 28 to October 4) and counted 봄, 여름, 가을 and 겨울, the Korean words for spring, summer, autumn and winter, in the lyrics posted on Bugs. We also counted them when they're joined to another word, as in 봄날 (spring day), 한여름 (midsummer) and 겨울밤 (winter night). Summer came up most, 16 times across seven songs, followed by spring, 13 times in six songs, and winter, 7 times in five songs. Autumn appears only twice, once each in two songs. In English, only 'summer' showed up, 3 times in two songs, and 'spring', 'autumn' and 'winter' never appeared. Of the fourteen songs that mention a season, we picked twelve and sorted them by season.

At a glance

Season Times it appears Song that sings it most
Summer 7 songs, 16 times 'Surfin' Boy', 5 times
Spring 6 songs, 13 times 'Let Me Love My Youth', 6 times
Winter 5 songs, 7 times 'Episode' and '사랑은 봄비처럼... 이별은 겨울비처럼', twice each
Autumn 2 songs, 2 times 'Ditto' and 'Four seasons, and you', once each

Two songs with autumn in them

NewJeans 'Ditto'

'어느새 여름 지나 가을' ('before you know it, summer has passed and it's autumn'). Across the lyrics of all 100 songs, it's one of just two lines where autumn appears. Summer giving way to autumn fits into a single line. The single came out on December 19, 2022, and nearly four years later it's still on the chart. The video below is the official performance video. LEECHANGSUB 'Four seasons, and you'

Of the 100 songs, this is the only one where all four seasons appear. In order come '따스한 봄날에 향긋한 꽃내음도' ('the sweet scent of flowers on a warm spring day, too'), '오지 않을 뜨거운 여름날의 사랑' ('the love of a hot summer day that won't come'), '너를 많이 닮은 가을의 색감이' ('autumn's colors, so much like you') and '같은 겨울에 놓인대도' ('even if we're set in the same winter'). It's on the EP 'Lee;Make (Fragmenta Amoris)' from September 15, and we looked at its opening, where the voice doesn't come in until 31.5 seconds, in our October 4 list. Apple Music

The songs with the most summer

Red Velvet 'Surfin' Boy'

It sings summer five times, more than any other of the 100 songs. '그 여름날의 우리들' ('us on that summer day'), '이 여름에 던져봐' ('throw it into this summer') and '이 여름날의 설렘들' ('the thrills of this summer day') come one after another. It came out on August 3 on the summer mini album 'Velvet Summer'. Apple Music

Hearts2Hearts 'Lemon Tang'

It sings '다 이겨, 여름 Heart' ('beat it all, summer heart') four times. It's the song that shares its name with the second mini album, released in June. The 'Lemon ta-ta-tang' stretch that fans replay most in this video is in our October 19 list. Apple Music

BOL4 'Please Summer!'

The title alone calls out to summer. '한여름에 sunset' ('a sunset in midsummer') and '한여름의 beach beach beach paradise' ('midsummer's beach beach beach paradise') come up, and the English 'summer vacation' slips in once too. It's a single released on July 22. Apple Music

JENNIE 'Less than a Lover'

It sings summer only in English: ''Cause all I need this summer' and 'And all I want this summer', twice in all. It's a single released on July 24. Apple Music

Spring and winter

HANRORO 'Let Me Love My Youth'

The Korean title, Ipchun (입춘), is the seasonal term that marks the start of spring. Spring comes up six times in the lyrics too. From '봄을 기다린다는 말' ('words saying I'm waiting for spring') and '첫 봄인사를 건네줘요' ('give me the first spring greeting') to '이 벅찬 봄날이 시들 때' ('when this overflowing spring day fades'), the song waits for spring, welcomes it and sees it off. It's a single from March 2022. Apple Music

D.O. 'Popcorn'

'봄날처럼 포근한 눈빛' ('eyes as soft and warm as a spring day'), '사랑이란 봄꽃잎이' ('the spring petal called love'). Two lines that liken love to spring. It's on the third mini album 'BLOSSOM' from April 2024. Apple Music

Kim Na Young 'A Letter for You'

'따뜻했던 너의 향기 어떤 봄 내음보다' ('your scent that was so warm, more than any scent of spring'). Just as the Korean title, 봄 내음보다 너를 ('You, More Than the Scent of Spring'), says, it's a song that misses you more than spring. It's a single released in April 2021. Apple Music

Lim Hyun Jung '사랑은 봄비처럼... 이별은 겨울비처럼' ('Love Like Spring Rain... Parting Like Winter Rain')

'사랑은 봄비처럼 내 마음 적시고 / 이별은 겨울비처럼 두 눈을 적시고' ('love soaks my heart like spring rain / parting soaks my eyes like winter rain'). Spring and winter stand side by side, one line each. Released in March 2003, it's the oldest song on this chart. Apple Music

NMIXX 'Heavy Serenade'

'봄 지나 겨울 와도' ('even if spring passes and winter comes'). The line skips summer and autumn and goes straight from spring to winter. It came out as NMIXX's fifth mini album in May 2026, and HANRORO wrote the lyrics alone, the same writer behind 'Let Me Love My Youth' and '0+0' on this list. The story of the song is in our NMIXX starter guide. Apple Music

HANRORO '0+0'

'여름 코코아 겨울 수박도' ('summer cocoa, winter watermelon too'). With hot cocoa in summer and watermelon in winter, the line turns the seasons upside down. It's on the album 'JAMONG SALGU CLUB' from August 2025. Apple Music

Seasons also turn up in LEE MU JIN's 'Episode', with '겨울 향이 배어서' ('the scent of winter seeps in') and '겨울밤이 되어서' ('it turns into a winter night'), and in fromis_9's 'Vitamin ME', with '한여름의 dreamy' ('midsummer's dreamy').
