'Stagefright' means exactly that — the fear of the stage. It reworks the tension an idol feels on stage into the unease you feel before love. That strange tremor where the more your feelings grow, the more frightening it gets.

The genre is R&B pop, a refined melody laid over a dynamic rhythm. Members Yungyu, Jaeyun and Myungho took part in the lyrics.

No line, no trace

The album title '8.X' is a fusion of two symbols. A period, 'Dot (.)', closing the previous chapter, and 'X', an as-yet-unmeasured territory. Put together, they mean 'leaving the predictable path for the unknown'. That's why the concept phrase is 'No Line, No Trace' — no set line, no trace to leave behind.

It's close to a declaration that they won't repeat a familiar formula. Staking that kind of name on a third single is, honestly, a little bold.

There's evidence off the stage too

8TURN are eight members: Jaeyun, Myungho, Minho, Yunseong, Haemin, Kyungmin, Yungyu and Seungheon. They have a second world tour ahead in September, across eight European cities, continuing to the Americas in October.

So the grounds for calling them 'a team to discover now' sit both in the song on stage and in the schedule off it. There's a pleasure in meeting a team early, just as it climbs into orbit.

The place of a third single

8TURN don't have a full album yet. So far they've built their color little by little through singles and minis. For a team like that to bring up 'leaving the set line' on a third single is to say, before their own formula has even hardened, that they'll break it.

Usually you repeat a winning formula a few times before trying a variation. 8TURN switched the order. That's the most striking attitude on this album. Setting aside whether any one song is good or bad, what shows first is which direction the team wants to go.
