Why lead with one when all of them are title calibre
Before release the members said all seventeen tracks were title-track calibre. And then the music video went to exactly one of them, 'Scenario'.
It looks like a contradiction and is simply practical: you can't shoot seventeen videos. "Every track is title calibre" is a claim about quality; one music video is a decision about budget and entrance.
Which raises something to check. Was this track chosen because it's the best of seventeen, or because it explains the album best? Those are different criteria, and under the second one this isn't the flagship — it's the signage.
A title meaning script
'Scenario' is a script. The album title, '面 : Unknown Atlas', is an atlas that hasn't been charted.
A map draws space in advance; a script draws time in advance. As a pair they match, both being things sketched ahead. Except the album has 'Unknown' attached.
Drawn in advance and yet unknown looks contradictory, but it reads as the state of having written a script and still not knowing how it goes. A plan present, a result absent.
Discovery note
Start by playing 'Scenario' on repeat. It was the teaser track, so part of it will already be familiar — locating where that part sits in the song is the first thing to check.
Then start the album in order and see where 'Scenario' falls. First page of the atlas or somewhere in the middle changes what this track is doing.
Last, compare it with the highlight medley. Which explains the album better — seventeen songs compressed, or one song heard whole — is the thing that separates.
