Two faces of one song
One melody was arranged twice. According to Ilgan Sports, Part.1 is "a song that expresses the heart of a woman in love, endlessly lovely, in a small and joyful way", while Part.2 leans toward "a little lonely, because the other person does not quite understand that heart".
The same tune: on one side a heart that is loved, on the other a heart that goes unnoticed. The melody stays put; only the arrangement and the temperature of the voice change.
There are not two songs. There is one song and two situations. It plays you the difference between saying the same words smiling and saying them alone.
The band and the violin
Part.2 is a band arrangement. According to Ilgan Sports, students from a university band club played as guest musicians, and violinist KoN features. The music is by Park Geun-tae and Kim Su-bin, the lyrics by EIRON. Both parts share the same credits.
The violin is an instrument whose range overlaps the voice. On the side that sings about a heart gone unnoticed, an instrument that overlaps the voice was added. When words do not reach, there is one more thing crying in their place.
Two videos shot in one day
The two music videos were shot in a single day. According to Ilgan Sports, Nam Gyu-ri said on set: "I like not resting. I want to keep working. I'll sleep in the grave."
Both videos are up on Nam Gyu-ri's official channel and on 1theK. The video above is Part.2, so Part.1 can be watched next on the same channel.
Discovery notes
Listen to Part.1 and then Part.2 straight after. How one melody becomes a different heart depending on the arrangement is the first thing to check.
Then find where the violin enters in Part.2. Listen for whether the instrument comes in where the voice stops.
Last, watch both again knowing they were filmed on the same day. The distance between the two faces is one day.
Just give it a listen, trust me.
