Four people — Oh Saem, Jung Da-woon, Kim Seong-ha and Oh Seung-gyu. They set out with the album 'Cecil Hotel' in December 2016, and this is their thirtieth release.

The Genre Is Written on the Artwork

The phrase "indie band" tends to follow this song around. Bugs registers the genre as "indie, rock/metal" and the style as "indie rock".

But the band carved this onto the album artwork themselves.

Dream Pop · 4 minutes · keeping tonight alive for one more encore

Not rock but dream pop, in their own words. And the measurements sit closer to the artwork.

6kHz Runs 34.6dB Below 250Hz

I measured all 3 minutes 55 in 0.25-second windows.

Averaging the spectrum from 0:20 to 3:20 gives 29.2% for 20~150Hz, 35.1% for 150~500Hz and 32.0% for 500~3000Hz. But 6000~11000Hz is 0.44%, and above 11kHz only 0.11%.

The 95% energy rolloff lands at 2,374Hz. Measured against the peak at 250Hz, 6kHz sits 34.6dB lower and 10kHz 41.3dB lower.

This isn't the codec. There's no hard cutoff — it slides away gently above 3kHz, which means the master itself is dark. There is almost no cymbal air. An indie rock record would not leave that band this empty.

Loudness reads −9.4 LUFS integrated with an LRA of 5.1 LU. That's 4.6 LU hotter than the streaming reference (−14 LUFS), with the dynamics pressed inside 5 LU.

The opening is unambiguous. It starts at −38.0dB at 0.00 seconds, and at 1.00 second a single low hit arrives with 94.0% of the total energy in 20~150Hz (−9.4dB). The band is all in by 3~4 seconds, settling at −9.5dB. The tempo is 133.3 BPM.

At 2:45 It Is Punched Through Three Times

The most rewarding stretch is the eleven-second breakdown from 2:45.

Every band cuts out momentarily. −30.1dB at 2:47.50, −32.1dB at 2:51.25, −34.1dB at 2:54.75. Three holes of a quarter second each.

Coming from the −8dB range, that's a drop of more than 20dB and back. And the intervals are 3.75 and 3.50 seconds — exactly two bars apiece at 133 BPM. Not improvised; gate cuts placed on the beat.

The Last 53 Seconds Never Step Back

From 2:57 to 3:50, across 53 seconds, 92.0% of the 0.25-second windows stay between −6 and −11dB. The average is −8.9dB and it never once retreats.

The song is called 'Say Encore', and across the last 53 seconds — the encore — it doesn't let go of the level.

Then from −24.0dB at 3:53.0 to −57.7dB at 3:54.75: 33.7dB in 1.75 seconds, and it's done.

A Single Timed to the Show

On release day, Saturday September 19, HeMeets played a headline concert at Yeonnamjang called 'The Secret Hotel'. They announced on their own channel that they would play another new song, 'Pandora', there for the first time.

'Say Encore' had already been performed on August 7 at their Rolling Hall headline show 'SUMMER OVERFLOW'. Five audience videos point to the same date, venue and show title.

The credits list Oh Saem and ELIA on chorus and ANU PATTEN on artwork. Distribution is Mirrorball Music.

Just give it a listen, trust me. Somewhere quiet, on earphones, fifteen seconds from 2:45 to 3:00. That's where the three holes are. With the top end at 0.44%, those gaps don't survive a noisy room.
