Two who 'spread' a little feeling: BALDU's four songs at a pirate-ship playground, and 'dudungsil' seven times

BALDU is a duo of two women: a vocalist and a pianist. That day, under the name Balladuet, they became the 30th musicians on NONOL LIVE, and they've since changed their name to BALDU. Even their greeting was "Balladuet, here to spread a little feeling over your everyday life," a pun on the Korean word for spreading (bal-la) and "duet." On a May morning, they sang four songs in front of the pirate-ship play structure at Byeotgol Children's Park in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It's the same playground as Yun Jeong Hoon, featured on October 16. Times follow the video.

0:00 Cuz

'Cuz' is short for "because." The song gathers all kinds of reasons for someone: because I love you, because I like you, because I want you. After singing it, the duo introduced it as a song that hadn't been released yet. Split by instrument, it's just keys and a voice.

4:57 공전 (Revolution)

This is the duo's debut song. The video description says they've released eight tracks since starting with '공전' in 2019. Inspired by the sun and Pluto, it captures running toward a difficult goal or a love that's hard to reach. Like Pluto circling the sun, it's a heart that keeps running toward one faraway heart. The singing starts at 5:27 with '보이던 빛마저 사라지면' ("when even the light I could see disappears"), and '온 우주를 돌아' ("circling the whole universe") arrives at 6:39.

10:36 Balloon

Before singing, the vocalist gave viewers one job. At the end of the song, '두둥실' (an onomatopoeia for floating up) would be sung seven times, and when it came, everyone should throw both arms up like clouds or balloons and sway them twice to the left and twice to the right. The song is about the feeling of floating far up into the sky on a balloon, because you're with someone you love. After '하나 둘 셋' ("one, two, three") at 13:12, the '두둥실' begins.

14:51 Drive

The last song was also unreleased at the time. The duo asked listeners to hear it as if driving a convertible along a coastal road with someone they love, reaching out of the window to touch the wind. The first three songs were only keys and a voice, but this one has drums running from the very start at 14:53. Only the two of them are on screen. The line beginning 'My baby, my sweetie' first comes at 15:44. On November 21, 2023, 181 days after the video went up, the song came out as NONOL VOL 26. Apple Music

The last musician at the previous playground was Kim Sun ha, featured on October 17. How many days it took for songs first sung at the playground to come out as NONOL VOL releases is collected in our October 10 list.
