Choosing the same date

The first album 'Hail to the Music' came out on September 10, 2024. This pre-release came out at noon on September 10, 2026. The same date.

Using an album's release date as the start date of the next album turns the calendar into a sentence. On the day the first record turns two, the first song of the second one arrives.

'Hail to the Music' won two prizes at the 22nd Korean Music Awards in February 2025 — Album of the Year and Best Modern Rock Album. That year they were nominated in six categories, the most of anyone.

What blurs as you get closer

'Whiteout or Astigmatism' started from the sensation of seeing something less clearly the closer you get to it. The label says the phrase 'what blurs as you approach it' runs through not only this song but the whole second album.

A whiteout and astigmatism are both states of not being able to see. One comes from outside, pouring down; the other is a problem inside the eye. The title binds them with 'or'. It does not settle on a cause.

The song crosses samba rhythm, indie rock texture and psychedelic development, moving across the border between dance music and ballad. The lyrics layer images of monsters, a wife, lovers, a funeral, a bedroom, snow and glasses.

Leaving the score loose on purpose

In December 2025, Danpyunsun shared sketches of the songs with the members and deliberately left the scores loose. The judgment was that too much given in advance can trap you inside it.

Over the following months the band moved in various directions and worked the songs out. Danpyunsun called that process an adventure.

"Rather than lining things up logically, I put them down honestly, as my heart moved," the singer said, adding the hope that the music "feels like the adventure itself rather than a result obtained through one".

Where the second album is looking

'Lovers' looks closely at the various relationships and human affairs inside a life. Unlike the previous record, which started from Danpyunsun's personal narrative, this one was built around the members' breathing and movement.

A showcase is set for October 31 at Hyundai Card Understage in Seoul. Flute, clarinet, percussion and backing vocals join the five-piece, putting nine people on stage.

Discovery notes

Listen to the song all the way through first. Where the samba rhythm crosses into the psychedelic is the first thing to check.

Then read the title again. The 'or' between whiteout and astigmatism is this song's stance.

Last, remember October 15. That is the day the second album is set beside a first album that has just turned two.

Just give it a listen, trust me.
