A two-person group, a ballad, two minutes forty-four.

A Debut Release Already Exists

The YouTube description says "first single". But the 'debut' field on their Melon artist page (5182428) holds 'Let's Go South', dated 30 August 2026, and the artist credit on that song is SEORIN DAIN themselves.

So 'You Were Everything' is their second single, twenty days after debuting.

The album title 'Let's Go South X BY CHANCE PROJECT' makes it look as though it were released under the BY CHANCE PROJECT name, but that's the label's project series — Jinhyuk, floryy, Baek Ye-seul, Park Yeon, Lee A-young, Yunwon and Yeohan all appear on the same channel under that tag.

It's a small difference, but it's a new act's record, so it's worth noting. Two releases in twenty days.

The Line-up Isn't a Duo

The description says "led by acoustic guitar and piano". The credits say otherwise.

Lyrics and music by MOON, bam and jovee; arrangement plus piano, guitars and strings by Kim Hyung-ju; bass by Kim Ye-chan, drums by BANG JA; mixing and mastering by Yoon Sung-yong; producer Gamseongsonyeo.

This is a band line-up with bass, drums and strings — not two people with a guitar and a piano.

The measurements don't match the word "plain" either. EBU R128 integrated loudness is −8.8 LUFS with an LRA of 3.6 LU. Across the body of the song (0:20~2:30), 86.8% of 0.25-second windows sit within ±3dB of the median, and the decoded sample peak is +2.68dB — 0.71% of all samples exceed full scale. This is a master pressed to commercial pop levels.

At 1:02 the Voice Steps 9dB Forward

I measured all 2 minutes 44 in 0.25-second windows.

Up to 1.00 second there is complete silence (−99.1dB), and at 1.25 seconds it enters at −13.7dB — 85dB in a single window.

From 0:06 to 0:18 it barely moves, averaging −11.6~−9.5dB across two-second frames.

The change comes in the bands. The 2.5~5kHz presence region brightens by 7.2dB, from an average of 48.2dB across 0:04~0:48 to 55.4dB across 0:48~1:20, announcing the chorus.

And then 1:02. As the 400~1200Hz vocal band rises to 75.2dB, the 120~400Hz accompaniment band drops from 75.8dB at 0:58 to 66.5dB. The voice alone steps about 9dB forward.

The fundamental frequency climbs with it. The verse at 0:06~0:20 has a median of 161Hz; the chorus at 1:02~1:20 reads 393Hz. Close to a full octave up.

What's interesting is that the level range is only 6.8dB. The loudest point is 1:00 (−6.9dB across two seconds), the quietest 1:32 (−13.7dB). The chorus isn't made by turning the voice up — it's made by turning the accompaniment down.

At 2:26 the 20~120Hz band drops 26dB below its 1:00 value, to 45.6dB, emptying the low end once.

It ends abruptly: from −10.8dB at 2:42.25 to −52.2dB at 2:43, closing in complete silence at 2:43.75.

This Video Isn't Live

A special clip and a lyric clip went up 19 seconds apart on the same day. Align the two audio tracks and cross-correlate them and the Pearson coefficient reads 0.9928. They're effectively the same master.

So it's an official special clip — a studio recording with performance footage over it — not a live take.

One more thing. The label explained that "Dain sings the chorus first and Seorin takes the last one", but the mean log-spectrum cosine distance between the 1:02~1:20 chorus and the 2:10~2:25 final chorus is 0.0146 — smaller than the distance between a verse and a chorus sung by the same person (0.044~0.048). The measurement doesn't confirm that two people split it. I'm noting it as the label's account only.

From 1:00 to 1:20

That's the best-built twenty seconds in the song — a stretch that pulls the voice out by lowering the accompaniment rather than raising the volume.

Just give it a listen, trust me. Put it on from 0:58 with earphones. If you feel the accompaniment recede, that's the design of this song.
